ONE AND DONE
WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, 1st Round - Tiger Woods, the top seed in the Sam Snead Bracket, lost on the first extra hole to 16 seed Thomas Bjorn on Day 1 of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. This is only the second time in 11 starts that Woods lost in the first round at this event. (In 2002, he lost to Peter O'Malley.) Woods now has gone 16 PGA TOUR events since his last win, matching the longest drought of his career. In the second round, Bjorn will face 2-time champion Geoff Ogilvy. Woods and Ogilvy are the only players who have won this event more than once.

CAN WE GET A 2nd OPINION?
Wainwright Has "Significant Injury" To Throwing Elbow - Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright suffered a "significant injury" to his throwing elbow in a bullpen session on Monday according to GM John Mozeliak. Wainwright is returning to St. Louis to have the elbow examined by team doctors. Wainwright has a $21-million, two-year option at the end of this season that was triggered by his finish in the Cy Young voting. To claim the option he must finish the year healthy and not on the team's disabled list.

"If [Derrick Rose] stays on this pace that he's on right now, he's got my vote [for MVP]."

"There's no way, with their payroll, having to dump salary before they were sold to us [NBA owners]; now they can take on more salary while they're losing money. That's just wrong every which way."

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban blasted the NBA on Wednesday for allowing the NBA-owned New Orleans Hornets to complete a trade with the Kings in which the financially troubled franchise will absorb salary and send an undisclosed amount of cash to the Kings.
